Chalabi: CIA has woven lies against me

Ilam, May 25, IRNA -- Leader of Iraqi National Congress Party Ahmed Chalabi was quoted by Radio free Iraq (RFI) on Monday, as saying "The US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Chief George Tenet has woven lies against me, and I`m ready to prove he has lied in front of the US Congress."

The RFI, monitored here in Iran`s Ilam Province, quoting Chalabi, added, "I will defend myself and clarify about the CIA chief`s mistake in America, not in Iraq, where the Americans have created the Abu Ghraib catastrophe."

The embattled Iraqi Governing Council (IGC) member, who was speaking among a number of prominent Iraqi personalities from various parts of that country said, "They accuse us because we firmly insist they should truly end occupation of Iraq and trust Iraq`s affairs to
the Iraqis."

Chalabi said, "The United States is not legally allowed to use an Iraqi presidential palace, that is the property of the Iraqi nation, as its embassy site in our country."
He emphasized, "We will not be pleased with anything short of full political sovereignty. The Iraqi ministries need no American advisers. The Iraqis will keep on their political campaign until full independence of their country will be secured."

The Iraqi party leader and ICG member ruled out the accusation of delivering secret information to Iran, arguing, "We might have given secret information to the Americans, but have never received any secret information from them to let it leak elsewhere. Chalabi condemned the deal between the Americans and some top Ba`th Party agents, arguing, "Ba`th Party agents` return to power is
impossible in Iraq since we will not permit them to do so."

The United States has accused Chalabi of transferring Iraq`s confidential information to Iran, as well as offering invalid information about the presence of weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) to Washington prior to the US-led attack against Iraq.

The United States` incompetence in Iraq in many ways, particularly in spotting even a small quantity of WMDs has led Washington to acquire the tendency to project its problems, and even to accuse its losest friends.
